German universities, like most universities around the world, maintain a broad network of international partnerships. The DAAD supports such international partnerships through a number of schemes that aim to foster cooperation among higher education institutions.
The German higher education system is characterized by a close link between learning, teaching and research. Research in Germany takes place in a number of settings. These include universities, non-university organizations, companies and institutions run by federal or state authorities. Overall, there are approximately 1000 publicly funded research institutions in Germany.
Germany offers a variety of funding measures for institutional cooperation to foster collaboration in existing partnerships or to support new research projects with American partners. For these programs, only German universities and universities of applied sciences can apply for funding. If you are interested in one of these programs, please refer your German partner institution to the appropriate website.
